The New Era of Fashion – DC Fashion Week

Washington, DC – February 20, 2017 – In the spirit of a new year, a new Presidential administration and a new socio/economic climate, DC Fashion Week (DCFW) debuts a new era of fashion as never before seen.

Beginning February 22nd and ending February 26th, DCFW presents The Autumn/Winter Collections 2017. The schedule of events is as follows:

Wednesday, February 22nd – Opening Night

DCFW, in collaboration with partners Impact Hub DC & Suited For Change, proudly showcases, “Eco-Chic: Wear Change Goes to Work.” The event highlights socially conscious and sustainable looks that set the trend for future fashion. Understanding the need for change in the fashion industry, Impact Hub DC aims to create a platform for local designers with very diverse backgrounds, representing the international landscape of Washington, DC. Also, during the opening night main event, a designer showroom features pop-up mannequins, displaying several of this season’s 50+ brands. Designers are present to discuss their collections with the press. The showroom is open to the public (6p -10p).

Thursday, February 23rd – NextGen Designer Showcase

Recognizing the creative talents of young artists, DCFW extends its NextGen Outreach Program to more schools. This year, DCFW celebrates by highlighting the designs of ten student winners, during a collaborative showcase. Participating educational institutions include American University, Howard University, Maryland Institute College of Art as well as many others.

Friday, February 24th  Corjor International and the Magnum Collections

DCFW spotlights Washington-based, celebrity designer Ean Williams as he presents his latest collection at Madame Tussauds Museum. Williams is profiled three times in British Vogue, winner of Best Indie Menswear Designer award, and recipient of Outstanding Achievement proclamation by the governor of Maryland. King David McIntosh (E! Famously Single) is the special guest model.

Saturday, February 25th – Emerging Designers Showcase

DCFW showcases seven fashion house exhibits from around the US at the Liaison Hotel. The platform supports “Made In DC” and gives unfettered exposure to emerging designers putting them in front of buyers, clients and the press.

Sunday, February 26th – International Couture Collections

Hosted at the Sphinx Club’s exquisite grand ballroom, DCFW showcases seven fashion house exhibits from countries around the world, including Ukraine, Lebanon, Ethiopia and Persia. This world stage supports DCFW’s mission of establishing D.C. as the center of international fashion.
